YCF Events

YCF was officially launched at a community event in December 2006 at Dennis R. Timbrell Centre in Flemingdon Park. The event marked the beginning of a new way of looking at youth development in Toronto's 13 priority neighbourhoods. Premier Dalton McGuinty, Minister Kathleen Wynne, Mayor David Miller and YCF Chair Michael 'Pinball' Clemons attended the launch to speak about the impact this initiative would have on the future of Toronto's youth, and to express their commitment to the work ahead.

On May 7, 2009, YCF stakeholders once again came together for a community celebration at Tropicana Community Services in Scarborough. YCF took the opportunity to share the successes and challenges faced in developing a unique, youth-led, collaborative approach to building the leadership capacity of young people. In just three years, YCF has funded 111 youth-led initiatives in Toronto's 13 priority neighbourhoods, helped create 34 youth-designated spaces and mobilized hundreds of partnerships and collaborations between community-based organizations, grassroots youth initiatives, donors and institutions from the public and private sector.
